About Jaffrey American Legion - John Humiston Post #11
With the second largest active veteran membership in the state of New Hampshire, Jaffrey American Legion is the home of three different organizations: the Legionnaires, the Sons of the American Legion, & the Auxiliary. Post #11 is a function hall and backyard with amenities that are available for rentals. Downstairs is a canteen with entertainment games, open seven days a week. We have adapted our protocols to keep our membership safe, and ask that when entering, leaving, and using the bathrooms, please wear a mask, as well as any time you can not socially distance. We are still having limited entertainment depending upon the weather, current pandemic protocols and other factors. Weekly events include Taco Tuesdays, Meat Raffles, Frozen Fridays and Queen of Hearts at 2PM on Sundays.
All three organizations have meetings on the 2nd Wednesday of the Month from September to June.
Both Auxiliary & Sons have Junior Level Memberships for local youth.
Veterans' Eligibilty
If you have served federal active duty in the United States Armed Forces since December 7, 1941, and have been honorably discharged or are still serving - you are eligible for membership in The American Legion!
*Because eligibility dates remain open, all active duty members of the U.S. Armed Forces are eligible to join The American Legion at this time, until the date of the end of hostilities as determined by the government of the United States.
**U.S. Merchant Marine eligible only from December 7, 1941 to December 31, 1946 (WWII).
American Legion Auxiliary
We are the American Legion Auxiliary.
We are called to serve.
We respect our country and the service of those who defend our freedoms.
We are loyal to our United States Constitution and to those who protect it.
We are humbled by the courage of our veterans and their families.
We are alone, yet we stand together.
We are daughters, brothers and sisters, mothers and fathers. We are family.
We are of every color. We are of every faith.
We are of every age.
We are anyone and everyone.
We are common and extraordinary.
We are citizens.
We live in small towns.
We live in suburbs.
We live in cities.
We work in fields, in factories, warehouses, offices, at home.
We are a community. We help one another.
We love our flag and all that it stands for.
We are many. We are one.
We are the American Legion Auxiliary. A Community of Volunteers
Serving Veterans, Military, and their Families.
We commit ourselves to the ideal:
Service Not Self.
Sons of American Legion
Founded in 1932, Sons of The American Legion exists to honor the service and sacrifice of Legionnaires.
S.A.L. members include males of all ages whose parents or grandparents served in the U.S. military and were eligible for American Legion membership. Members of The American Legion, American Legion Auxiliary and Sons of The American Legion comprise the Legion Family, which has a combined membership of nearly 3 million.
Although Sons has its own membership, the organization is not a separate entity. Rather, S.A.L. is a program of The American Legion. Many Legionnaires hold dual membership in S.A.L.
